Namma Halli Shaale - The Village School

Strong pre-primary education for lifelong learning success.

"Pre-primary education gives children a solid foundation upon which all learning depends on, making every stage of education that follows more efficient and more productive."

About Namma Halli Shaale

What started as just wanting to support a Govt school in Honnayakanahalli village, Malavalli Taluk in 2018 by providing for only stationery supplies, led to adopting the same Govt school in the same year. We have since then provided trained teachers, assisted the primary classes with Math and English teaching method and material, provided facilities like the science lab (courtesy Rotary, Bangalore), Library, Audio Visual room and catered to other shortcomings as and when required.

While we were at it we also realised there is a need for a preschool where the kids can get access to early years education and are better prepared for the grade school, and hence we made it our mission to start one in the same village, and called it ‘NAMMA HALLI SHAALE – The Village School’, this also acts as a feeder school for the Govt school.

Our village school model has shown promising results in children and this has encouraged us to take our efforts to the next level. Our vision is to establish a pre-school like this one in every other village so that more and more children can get access to it.

Why Early Education is Important?

The early years (0 to 8 years) are the most extraordinary period of growth and development in a child’s lifetime. The foundations of all learning are laid during these years. Getting the foundations right carries huge future benefits: better learning in school and higher educational attainment, which results in major social and economic gains for society.

Pre-primary education gives children a solid foundation upon which all learning depends on, making every stage of education that follows more efficient and more productive. At Namma Halli Shaale, we believe in laying a strong foundation for the future by nurturing children during their early, formative years. Our approach focuses on holistic development, engaging children in simple yet stimulating activities that foster awareness and understanding while allowing them to fully enjoy their childhood.

Our Vision

We envision a preschool experience where children cherish their early years, remembering them as a time of joyful learning that set the stage for their future success. We aim to be remembered as the preschool that helped build their confidence, instilled lasting happiness, and prepared them to face life’s challenges with resilience.

Our Goal

Our goal is to cultivate a harmonious environment at Namma Halli Shaale, rooted in mutual respect, trust, and care for one another. Our unique methodology supports children in refining language skills, stimulating intellectual growth, fostering independence and creativity, improving motor coordination, developing a positive self-image, building social skills, managing emotions, and taking responsibility for their actions.

Programs at Namma Halli Shaale

Our programs offer a well-rounded experience, encompassing everything from motor skills development to phonics. We’ve designed a curriculum that layers intelligence in a child’s mind, allowing them to progress to the next stage of learning with confidence.

Our Curriculum

We understand that early childhood experiences with language and literacy are critical for later success in reading and learning. Our thoughtfully crafted curriculum is designed to maximize growth and learning during these formative years.

Bilingual teaching

Bilingual teaching has been the practice at Namma Halli Shaale. Bilingualism is more than just the ability to speak more than one language — it's a multicultural approach to interpersonal interactions that can dramatically improve an individual's social skills. Kannada being the mother tongue for most in the rural parts of Karnataka, it is necessary for us to teach the children their local language. Our focus on teaching Kannada is as important as teaching English. There is extra effort put into the English language for the only reason that the kids in the rural areas have little or no exposure to the language and hence needs more attention.

Learning Centers & Play Time

At Namma Halli Shaale, the early years programme, frees your child to play and learn, so they can build the proven curiosity, creativity, and confidence they'll need to thrive today—and well into the future. Indoor activity areas, or learning centers, are equipped with resources that engage children in various ways, with activities frequently updated to match the theme or topic of the month. Playtime encourages the development of social skills, motor skills, and foundational concepts like numbers and alphabets. Humor and music are integral parts of our educational approach. Children take play seriously—and so do we.

English Made Easy

We adapt the Jolly Phonics programme at Namma Halli Shaale, Phonics is a fun, multisensory method that aids early reading and writing, it teaches children to read and write using synthetic phonics, which is widely recognised as the most effective way to teach children to read and write in English. Children learn the 42 letter sounds of the English language through engaging activities like actions, songs, stories, flashcards, and tactile experiences. They also learn letter formation, blending, and segmenting sounds, which are essential for reading and writing words.

Language Development

Language skills are crucial in early years and are reinforced through exposure to a variety of books, stories, and show-and-tell activities. Partnering with a children’s library, we provide access to age-appropriate books, fostering a language-rich environment. Open-ended questions help children build vocabulary and strengthen their language skills, laying a strong foundation for socio-emotional development, reading, writing, and math.

Math with Saxon’s

Our math program lays the groundwork for advanced concepts and critical thinking skills. We introduce children to the basics of math, including counting, recognizing numbers, identifying colors and shapes, addition and subtraction, patterns, sorting, telling time, and understanding the concept of time.

Outdoor & Yoga Activites

Outdoor activities, held on Saturdays, include team sports and fun races, while yoga sessions aid in physical development, patience, focus, and concentration.

Integrated Learning

Our curriculum interrelates subject areas, making learning more meaningful and encouraging children’s natural curiosity. We present stories, songs, drills, games, activities, and field trips to nurture this desire to discover and learn.
